5 held for IPL betting in Candolim; cash, electronic items seized

Calangute Police booked five persons involved in IPL cricket betting from a villa in Candolim and seized cash and electronic items in the wee hours of Thursday.

Police have seized cash of Rs 95,000, nine mobiles and two laptops in the gambling raid.

According to a senior police officer, the bookies were involved in gambling activity and accepting bets in the ongoing IPL cricket matches.

Currently, the IPL 2020 is being held in United Arab Emirates. Matches are being played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

Further investigations are on.
