5 held in Tivim burglary case

Mapusa Police arrested five persons in connection with Tivim house burglary case and obtained 10 days remand.

Police arrested the accused, Prakash Chavan, Sumita Naik, Shoba Chavas, Lalita Pawan and Shoku Chavan on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that the burglars had entered into a locked house in Tivim and decamped with gold and other items worth Rs 1.70 lakh on January 5.

The burglars had managed to flee with a gold chain, a bracelet, finger ring, tie pin, bangles, necklace, earing and one mobile phone, the complainant Atanasio Vaz had said.

After the arrest, police managed to recover only the mobile set from the accused. Mapusa Police arrested the five accused under the relevant sections of IPC. PSI, Kiran Naik is investigating the case.

Loliem local found dead on railways tracks

CANACONAA 70-year-old resident of Loliem was found dead on the railway tracks at Pedem-Canacona on Wednesday. According to Margao Railway Police, a call was received at 6.30 am stating that a body was lying across the railway tracks at Pedem, which is nearby to Loliem KRC station.
