Vehicle intercepted based on tip-off

Five Ganesh idols made from Plaster of Paris (PoP) were seized from a pickup at the border checkpost in Patradevi on Thursday.
Based on a complaint at the border checkpost, Mopa Airport Police intercepted a vehicle which was found transporting five PoP Ganesh idols, in violation of the Environment Protection Act, 1986.
The accused, identified as Shripad Patil (29) of Jadhav Wadi in Kolhapur-Maharashtra, was served a notice to appear at the police station.
The vehicle and the idols have been seized and samples have been taken for testing.
A case has been registered under Section 15(1) of the Environment Protection Act, 1986 at Mopa Airport Police Station.
Further investigation is in progress.
