CM's comment at function met with scorn

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday stated that 51 tenders were passed for the renovation of panchayat ghars in the State under Deendayal Panchayatiraj Infrastructure Development scheme.
He was speaking during the inauguration of newly constructed ground-plus-two-floor building for Keri-Tiracol Panchayat at Keri. The new panchayat building has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1.30 crore by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation under the Deendayal Panchayatiraj Infrastructure Development scheme.
Speaking further, Parsekar said the government has undertaken various infrastructural development works to cater to future needs of the people.
“The Keri-Tiracol bridge is for betterment of the people. The work of the bridge from Keri side is completed, but the work on Tiracol side has been stopped by some egoistic people,” he added.
He said the government developed and upgraded various roads in Pernem taluka to cater to the increasing vehicular traffic after the creation of proposed Mopa greenfield airport and Electronic City at Tuem. These two flagship projects will help increase space of development in Pernem taluka and will also open avenues of employment catering to the educated youth in the State.
Panchayat Minister Rajendra Arlekar said the BJP government has completed all the developmental works which were undertaken during its tenure.
Keri-Tiracol Sarpanch Yeshwant, Deputy Sarpanch Runali Talkar, Tuem Sarpanch Prajakta Kannaik, former ZP member Arun Bankar, former sarpanchas Francis Rodrigues and Milind Kerkar and BJP Mandrem Mandal president Ramesh Shet Mandrekar were among those present.

Activist confronts CM
PERNEM: Unhappy with the Chief Minister's statement that some “egoistic” people have stopped the work of Tiracol bridge, Keri-Tiracol panch and social activist Francis Rodrigues confronted CM Laxmikant Parsekar while he was proceeding towards his car at Keri.
“People did not oppose the work of Tiracol bridge, but they opposed the projects that are coming up in Tiracol,” stated Rodrigues.
“Your government should give us justice. The government has undertaken many developmental works, but injustice has been made by making an amendment in the Kul Mundkar Act,” he alleged.
Parsekar requested Rodrigues to discuss the issues in the car, but Rodrigues' supporters started creating chaos and demanded the response in public. Later, the police intervened and pacified the situation.
