Chorao locals seek details of bridge
BICHOLIM: The United Citizen of Chorao (UCC) has appealed to Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Mayem MLA Anant Shet to visit Chorao and explain the details of the proposed Chorao bridge, which the government has e-tendered last week.
UCC submitted a memorandum to Parsekar and Shet with an appeal to convene a meeting to clear doubts of e-tendering and the approach road from both the sides.
“BJP had given an assurance during the last assembly election that if it comes to power, they would lay foundation in six months and build a bridge in two years, but nothing was done and now election is close by,” stated UCC in the memorandum.
“GSIDC has floated an e-tender for the bridge in the local papers without land acquisition for the approach road.”
“UCC has taken the bridge issue in a democratic way since last two years by submitting a number of memorandums and peaceful agitations for speedy construction of the bridge,” stated president Shrikrishna Haldankar.
UCC had convened a meeting on December 16, in which it discussed the issue of e-tendering.
