56-year-old man remanded for rape of minor

PANAJI

A 56-year-old man was on Sunday remanded to five days in police custody after he was arrested for allegedly raping a 11-year-old girl from his neigbourhood.

The horrific incident reportedly occurred in North Goa, and since the accused lived in the neighbourhood of the minor victim, the possibility of the latter being identified is why the location and identity is being kept undisclosed.

Police said, the complaint was made on Saturday by the victim's family and the man was arrested on Saturday evening itself. He was produced before the jurisdictional magistrate for remand on Sunday and the JMFC granted five-day police custody.
