5-day-old infant dies in Hospicio; autopsy reserves opinion

A five-day-old infant died at the Hospicio hospital in the wee hours of Saturday.

A post mortem examination conducted at the Hospicio, however, could not state the exact cause of death, with the autopsy reserving the opinion till further investigations.
Hospicio medical superintendent Dr Ira Almeida confirmed that the baby boy, who was born five days ago, breathed his last at the hospital. “We will take a decision on the question of ordering an internal inquiry after receiving the police report and the post mortem report,” Dr Ira said.
Maina-Curtorim police, which has registered a case after being informed of the death by the Hospicio hospital, said the body was later handed over to the relatives.   
Maina-Curtorim police are conducting further investigations.

Task Force to look into cultivation of barren fields
