6 Maharashtra tourists rescued at Baga-Calangute

Six tourists from Maharashtra were rescued from drowning in two separate incidents along the Baga-Calangute beach stretch over the weekend, which saw high visitor turnout despite unseasonal rains. Drishti Marine lifesavers also traced three missing children at Calangute.

At Baga, four teenagers from Nashik, including three minors, were caught in a rip current after reportedly ignoring warnings not to enter deep water. Lifesaver Suryakant Paryekar, assisted by supervisor Vinod Gaonkar and team members Nandakishor and Jitendra Giri, brought all four safely ashore.

At Calangute, two men from Sangli were rescued after being dragged by a rip current. Lifesavers Shivam Rajbhar and Ankur Kumar used rescue tubes to pull them to safety.

In separate incidents, three children who went missing at Calangute were found and reunited with their families. This included a 12-year-old boy who was spotted alone near the water and later handed over to police.
