Refuting media reports that government has cancelled nearly 1000 vacant posts created during the tenure of Laxmikant Parsekar, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar informed that 600 posts have already been cleared for recruitment.
He, however, informed that 129 posts in the Fire and Emergency Services department have been scrapped.
Speaking to media persons, Parrikar said that out of the 1000 posts, 600 posts have been already cleared and the remaining are the initial stages of recruitment.
He said there was no need to worry as none of the posts have been scrapped. More than 60 per cent of the recruitment has been completed. "According to me, requirement of 5000-5500 jobs will be there," he added.
Speaking further, he said, "The salary component of the government has crossed Rs 220 crore and pension liability has crossed Rs 60 crore. So, Rs 280-290 crore is the salary bill of the State Government which is a substantial
burden."
He assured that whenever posts are advertised, the government will try and see that at least the process is completed in six months time.
"I have worked out a mechanism to fasten the recruitment process. Within this month, many departments will get clearance for various posts. Instead of moving the files, we are doing it through a committee of officers which will assess the requirement. Only one condition would be imposed that all recruitment of entire one year would be done in one go. Recruitment for this year will begin in December. In the first three months, the department has to identify what are the vacancies available and the vacancies which will be created upto December of the
same year," he said.
