Bogmalo likely to get new Panchayat Ghar

Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday informed that the Bogmalo Panchayat could soon get a new Panchayat Ghar.
Godinho stated this along the sidelines a meeting to address grievances at the Bogmalo Panchayat.
Godinho had summoned officials of various government departments like PWD, electricity, and
tourism department to respond to grievances of people from Bogmalo and Dabolim areas. Various issues were discussed at the
meeting.
After the meeting, Godinho informed media persons that depending on a resolution by the Panchayat in the gram sabha, a new panchayat Ghar would be developed for Bogmalo Panchayat in the same space and same
plinth area.
"But it would have a better structure and architecture and could even have an extra floor to accommodate a hall," said Godinho.
"This meeting was convened to ensure I have proper information on issues like light, water, gutter, buildings and roads plaguing Bogmalo and nearby areas," he added.
Godinho said they had received an old CRZ permission for the unused toilet at Bogmalo beach and hence, a new permission was not needed. Very soon, the toilet will be inaugurated," assured Godinho.
Godinho also said that land had been acquired for a football ground and added that payment to the landlord would be cleared within a month.
"The football ground will be done in two phases.
The first phase will include levelling and goal posts, so that youth can use the ground immediately. The second phase would consist of stands, changing rooms for players and
referee rooms," said the minister.
Godinho informed that a proposal for a new overhead tank, sump and pipelines had been presented to reduce water problems in areas like Alto Dabolim.
A new transformer to increase the capacity of electricity were also resolved, while Godinho directed the Public Works Department to hotmix a road riddled
with many potholes,
once the hotmix plant begins operations after the
monsoons.

Bogmalo resort may soon have
floating jetty for water sports: Mauvin
VASCO: Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said the Bogmalo Beach Resort had submitted a proposal to CRZ authorities for a floating jetty for water sports activities without altering the space.
"Water sports like snorkelling, scuba diving, simple boating and deepsea diving could be set up and this could generate more employment to the youth and people from other starred hotels could visit Bogmalo, resulting in increased tourism," said Godinho. "Bogmalo beach is one of the best beaches in Mormugao taluka and there are plans to widen roads wherever possible, have better lighting and also have a better beach cleaning contractor so the beach is clean and green," said Godinho.
"Bogmalo faces issues about parking and a fresh proposal has also been made for a different road to resolve parking issues," he added.
