PANAJI: Roy Naik, son of former chief minister and Ponda legislator Ravi Naik, has been summoned in connection with the alleged police-politician-drug mafia nexus by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case.
Roy has been asked to remain present for inquiry on June 29 by the Crime Branch’s SIT.
He will be quizzed on his role on the basis of the 2013 House Committee Report furnished by its chairman, Francisco (Mickky) Pacheco.
Though this report was not accepted by the Assembly, in 2018 SIT inquiring police-politician-drug mafia nexus case has taken this report as material for inquiry. However, the SIT has not initiated any action against police officers named in the House Committee Report, because they had already faced legal proceedings and disciplinary action once.
In its report submitted to the state legislative assembly in October 2013, the Pacheco committee had indicted Roy and several senior police officers among otgers.
The alleged nexus came to light after Swedish model Lucky Farmhouse posted her boyfriend and alleged drug peddler Yaniv Benaim alias Atala's video clips in which the latter purportedly admitted his links with some police personnel.
