Water supply to Cortalim and Agacaim areas was affected after an underground water pipeline was damaged near Narayan Naik house at Sancoale at around 1 pm on Tuesday.
According to PWD sources, several trees are being cut along the highway as a part of road widening work.
"The contractor involved in the tree-cutting operations cut one huge tree along the road and in an attempt to remove its roots, a JCB damaged the underground pipeline supplying water to Cortalim and Agacaim areas," said a PWD official. "Pumping is stopped and repair work is in progress. The issue will be resolved by Wednesday afternoon," the official added.
