As many as 63 healthcare workers from the Valpoi Community Health Centre (CHC) received the Covid vaccine on Friday.
None of the 63 healthcare workers reported any adverse reactions following the immunisation.
Valpoi CHC Medical Officer Dr Shyam Kankonkar said he and the 62 other staff had received the vaccine in the first round, while others would receive the vaccine in the second round.
“I too received the vaccine shot and did not experience any reaction. I had heard a lot of negativity about the vaccine but it is all false as none of our staff experienced any uneasiness.”
“I appeal to people to get vaccinated and avoid falling prey to rumours on social media. Thousands of people have fallen ill and hundreds have lost their lives due to the Covid pandemic and I feel the vaccination will bring an end to this pandemic,” said Dr Kankonkar.
Chief Medical officer Dr Surekha Parulekar, Aqueeb Shaikh and Swati Tishekar were also present to supervise the vaccination drive.
Sattari Mamlatdar Dasharath Gawas and Joint Mamlatdar Sanjivani Satardekar were among the officials who visited the Valpoi CHC and encouraged the health workers to get vaccinated.
