Seven foreigners lodged at the detention centre in Mapusa and three inmates of the Central jail were among the 99 new positive cases recorded in various health centres in Bardez on Wednesday.
The highest number of cases was recorded at Mapusa urban health centre with 34, followed by Candolim primary health centre with 28 infections.
Interestingly, Porvorim Primary Health Centre (PHC) recorded the least number of cases with just five.
Health Officer at Mapusa UHC, Dr Cheryl de Souza informed that seven foreigners tested positive in the Mapusa detention centre, seven in Khorlim, five in Carrasvaddo, two each in Ansabhat, Gaunsavaddo, Raj Vaddo, Shetya-vaddo, Altinho and Housing Board and one each in Morod, Duler and Dangui Colony.
In the Candolim PHC, seven persons each were infected in Nerul and Pilerne, four in Sangolda, three in Saligao, two each in Reis Magos, Candolim and Arpora and one in Calangute.
According to the Health Officer at Siolim PHC, Dr Sadhna Shetye 15 new cases were reported in her jurisdiction “ Canca (6), Anjuna (4), Siolim-Marna (2), Siolim-Sodiem (1), Assagao (1) and Parra (1).
Health Officer of Colvale PHC Dr Damodar Narvenkar informed that 10 persons were found infected with the virus at the centre.
Three each tested positive in Central Jail, Assonora and Colvale and one in Tivim.
A total of seven cases were recorded in Aldona primary health centre on Wednesday. Health Officer, Dr Preetam Naik said two persons each tested positive in Ucassaim, Olaulim and Carona and one in Nachinola.
After showing an ascending trend for the last more than a month, Porvorim PHC showed a drop in the number of positive cases with just five infections reported on Wednesday. According to the Health Officer, Dr Roshan Nazareth, three persons tested positive in Penha de Franca and one each in Socorro and Salvador do Mundo.
