Valpoi police have registered a case against a 40-year-old woman on charges of assaulting and injuring a 70-year-old woman at Dhave, Sattari on August 25.
According to police, the accused allegedly assaulted the elderly woman with a stove lighter and pushed her to the ground.
The woman sustained a fracture near her hip after falling, as stated in the complaint.
The complaint also alleges that the elderly woman had been subjected to harassment for several years. It further claims that she was allegedly deprived of proper food, maintenance and other basic facilities.
Further investigation into the case is being carried out by Valpoi Police.
