CANACONA: Eight members of a family tested positive as 35 new cases were detected on Friday, taking the number of Covid active cases to 238 in Canacona takuka
Two members of a family in Gaondongrim had first tested positive and two days later, six other family members, including two boys aged 8 and 4 years, also got themselves tested despite not having any symptoms and their tests came positive on Friday.
According to sources, test samples of 5 symptomatic persons collected on April 20 came positive, while 30 of the 90 antigen tests conducted at CHC also tested positive on Friday.
New cases were detected in Khola (Saleri-Kazumoll), Agonda, Canacona municipality, Shristhal, Gaondongrim, Poinguinim and Loliem-Polem.
This indicates that coronavirus has spread to all parts of Canacona taluka, as people with Covid-like symptoms from all over the taluka are getting themselves checked and many are testing positive.
Canacona Community Health Centre Health Officer Dr Jose Tavares has appealed to people in Canacona to remain indoors as much as possible, to avoid travelling and to approach the health centre for tests if encounter any symptoms resembling Covid.
