Goa State Pollution Control Board has issued consent to operate to 8 mining leases, according to industry sources.

Normally, iron ore mining starts in Goa by the end of monsoon. However, this year, there was a delay in issuing of consent to operate. Due to that, the mining industry was concerned because fresh excavation can't start without consent to operate. Sources also revealed that these 8 mining leases, put together, have the capacity of 2.365 million tons per annum of iron ore.
Leading Hotels Limited will work towards setting the ball rolling on its project as soon as possible in the wake of most of the serious litigation being behind it.
