80% work of refloating Lucky 7 stands completed: promoters

Finally, ship moves away from Miramar shore

PANAJI
Promoters of Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd have claimed that 80% of the work of refloating the vessel M V Lucky Seven is complete and that the vessel is likely to move to ‘stable water' within the river Mandovi within the next
two days for an underwater survey.
Owner of Lucky 7 Govind Kanda who has been regularly monitoring the progress of refloating of the vessel has said that they are yet to receive permission from the Captain of Ports to anchor in the stable waters of the river Mandovi, but that they expect the permission soon.
"Within two days it has to go to stable water. After that we will have to do an underwater survey to look for damage at the bottom or any breaches which need patching," Kanda said adding that unless the survey is complete and damage assessed and repaired taking the vessel
in the open sea was out of question.
"We took 10 days day and night to appraise the vessel. Each day we moved it 10-15 metres. Today because of the high tide we were 80% successful. Two days work is remaining," Kanda said
adding that the entire episode was a lot of trouble and mentally upsetting.
He said that the company faced a loss that has yet to be quantified but is likely to be in the range of `8-10 crore.
Meanwhile, sources in the department have informed that the vessel will be granted temporary permission to anchor off Aguada for its underwater survey.
