9 jetties planned in State: CoP

River Mandovi to play host to some

Captain of Ports James Braganza on Saturday informed that the Inland Waterways Authority of India has proposed nine jetties in the State, of which some would come up in the Mandovi river.
Speaking to reporters at an event organised by the Goa Barge Owners Association (GBOA), Braganza said though the performance of the port has had challenges, the port department is awaiting funds from the central government.
The Inland Waterways Authority of India has plans for nine jetties, of which some of them are being planned in the Mandovi river. The department is also planning to have four floating jetties or pontoons for all inland vessels."
"There are also plans to renovate navigational aids like lighthouses, light beacons and buoys.
These projects await EIA clearance and are likely to be ready by the next financial year," said Braganza.
