MARGAO
It’s now almost a month since the inauspicious days of Pitru Paksha ended last month, but there’s still no sign of the Goa Forward party setting up shop in Margao to take on the Congress-turned-BJP MLA Digambar Kamat.
For, the Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai had announced on September 16, the day when party-backed Independent candidate Ganashyam Shirodkar was elected the MMC chairperson, that the Goa Forward would open party office in Margao constituency after the inauspicious period of Pitru Paksha.
Sources informed that one reason why the Goa Forward could not convince the councillors from Margao to quit the BJP and openly vote for the party-backed candidate for the Margao Municipal Council chairperson is that they were worried about their future since some of them hail from Margao.
Against this backdrop, and the fact that all seemed finally over politically between the Fatorda MLA and his Margao counterpart Digambar Kamat, questions are being raised about when exactly the Goa Forward party will open its office in the Margao constituency.
