A prominent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader from the Benaulim constituency and former Varca sarpanch Salesiana alias Selu Fernandes has resigned from the Arvind Kejriwal-led party.
Fernandes, who was joint secretary of the AAP South Goa Women’s Wing, submitted her resignation to party Goa unit president Valmiki Naik.
In her resignation letter, Fernandes said she felt she was no longer in sync with the current alliance politics of AAP Goa.
“In the best interest of Goa and my commitment to public service, I have therefore decided to step away from AAP Goa. This is a carefully considered and final decision,” she said.
Fernandes requested that her resignation from the party and from all posts and responsibilities held by her be accepted with immediate effect.
She thanked AAP Goa and its leaders for the opportunities, trust and responsibilities entrusted to her during her time with the party.
“I am grateful for the experience and the opportunity to work for the people of Goa. I joined social and public life with the sincere intention of working for the interests of Goa and its people,” she said.
