Aam Aadmi Party’s Capt Venzy Viegas launched the party’s Benaulim Senior Citizens Manifesto Committee in the presence of Ex-Deputy Director Tourism Department Goa José Rock and ex-Sarpanch Benaulim John Barretto.
Both, Rock and Barretto joined the AAP on Sunday along with some senior citizen professionals.
Speaking on the occasion, Capt Viegas said, “Today, senior citizens in the constituency are neglected and no government has put a system in place to ensure their welfare. Our senior citizens-centric manifesto will resolve various issues and concerns related to seniors who have contributed so much to this state and country at large.”
“Today, I have six senior citizens in my immediate family and we had a tough time when we decided to keep two of our family members at an old-age home. I have promised myself we must ensure senior citizens are taken care of by putting a system in place and here is the start,” he said.
“It is so painful that when I was in dire need of help. Nobody came forward and now the same people are making fun of my hardships. I am taking a pledge today that I will take care of all the senior citizens of Benaulim so that no one else faces the same hardship. I am also requesting all senior citizens of Benaulim to be a part of this initiative and share their valuable suggestions on things to put in place,” said Capt Viegas.
AAP Benaulim Coordinator Alban Rebello announced a mobile number 9851134134 where suggestions could be sent via WhatsApp or phone call.
AAP’s ZP leader Hanzel Fernandes said this was the time to give back to seniors and “we as AAP will work towards giving our seniors better and safer future.”
