AAP criticises GHRDC for raking in Rs 15 lakh in fees from job seekers

PANAJI
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday said that the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC) has netted over Rs 15 lakh collected from applicants for the 900-odd jobs advertised by it.

AAP leader Ramrao Wagh addressed a press conference where he claimed that around 30,000 Goan youth had applied for the jobs.

The GHRDC was charging Rs 50 per application form. Some youths applied for multiple-category jobs.

Earlier, AAP had questioned the logic of charging a fee for the application forms and alleged that there was no accountability in the money collected by the corporation, as the forms were not numbered and there would be no authentic record of the number of forms printed and sold.

On the back foot, with Goa's unemployment rate among the highest in the country according to Central agencies, the Goa government had advertised to recruit around 900 people through the GHRDC, including office assistants, attendants, security guards, and drivers.
