PANAJI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticised the Congress over its ‘Goa Rakhon Yatra’, saying the party should instead focus on an ‘MLA Rakhon Yatra’. AAP also accused Congress of introducing casinos in Goa and alleged that the party was involved in mining-related loot and scams.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, AAP Senior Vice President Sandesh Teleikar-Dessai alleged that Congress councillors elected in the last municipal elections had subsequently joined hands with the BJP. “We fight against BJP, but only in Goa the fight is against BJP and Congress. In the last two elections, every Goa voter knows that their votes for Congress have gone to BJP,” Dessai said.
Questioning the Congress’ ‘Goa Rakhon Yatra’, Dessai asked why the party needed to undertake the campaign.
He alleged that Congress, during its tenure, was responsible for introducing casinos and accused the party of being involved in mining-related irregularities and scams. “They are protesting against the destruction which they have caused,” the AAP said.
The party also alleged that Congress MLAs have not spoken against Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and claimed that some Opposition leaders are close to him.
