Aam Admi Party on Thursday submitted a letter to the Superintendent of Police of the Anti-Corruption Branch, asking the police to investigate the case of the illegal shifting of the High Tension wire in the Kadamba Plateau on June 3 which led to citizens in the state’s capital being deprived of electricity for 22 hours.
Calling the shifting of the High Tension line “work done in private interest”, Errol Pires, a member of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) said that these were acts done for self-gain. He also pointed out that such acts were “punishable under the Prevention of Corruption Act and other laws” and urged the Police to register an FIR and accordingly prosecute those involved.
The letter which was a complaint against the “Chief Electrical Engineer of Goa and the subordinate officials” stated that the public was restless because of the power shutdown in the state, especially because this was on the eve of a new academic year.
Pires asserted that officials of the electricity department had resorted to the work without authorisation and that this work was illegal.
