The Colva police is hoping to resolve the death of the Punjabi couple which took place in suspicious circumstances at Colva with the arrival of the Hoshiarpur police and relatives of the two deceased young couple.
The bodies of Baljit Singh (25) and Harvinder Kaur (18) were found dead hanging to a coconut tree at Colva in the wee hours of Wednesday. While the Colva police attributed the death to suspected suicide, the reason behind the drastic step will be known only after the arrival of the Punjab police and the relatives of the deceased.
Inquiries by the Colva police later revealed that the duo hailed from Punjab and were putting up at Colva in a guest house since they reportedly landed in the village on October 9.
Colva police station in-charge, PI Filomena Costa told The Goan that the Hoshiarpur police will arrive in Goa by train to investigate in the death of the young couple. "When we contacted the Hoshiarpur police and intimated them of the incident, they told us that a case of kidnapping stands registered against the boy," PI Costa said.
Replying to a question, he said the post mortem examination on the bodies will be carried out in the presence of the Punjab police since they are arriving on Friday. "The post mortem examination could not take place on Thursday since the Hoshiarpur police are expected to arrive in Goa on Friday," he said.
PI Costa, however, said that no wound marks have been found anywhere on the dead bodies of the boy and girl, adding that the post mortem examination will reveal the exact cause of death of the couple.
