As part of its determined bid to win the Colva Zilla Panchayat seat, the Aam Aadmi Party has inducted former Colva sarpanch Anthony Fernandes popularly known as Mam in football and political circles into the party fold ahead of the upcoming Zilla Panchayat election.
Working systematically to strengthen party base in the Colva ZP seat, comprising of the villages of Colva, Seraulim, Betalbatim and Majorda, the AAM has been going about inducting political figures into the party in the last few weeks.
While the party had won the Benaulim ZP seat in the last election and also the bye-poll, the party led by Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas has now set its eyes on the Colva seat as well.
The former Colva Sarpanch Anthony Leo Fernandes (Mam) officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday after he was welcomed in the party fold by AAP MLA Capt Venzy Viegas in the presence of Colva Sarpanch Bai Treza, Deputy Sarpanch Bab Dalan, Ex-Sarpanch Johnson, Ex-Sarpanch Suzie Fernandes, ex-Deputy Tendrila, Panch Members Menino & Domingo Rodrigues and others.
Speaking about the induction, Venzy praised Anthony Leo Fernandes for his committed public service and social contribution.
Saying that Mam had has also served three consecutive terms as Executive Committee Member of Goa Football Association, Venzy said his entry into AAP will significantly strengthen the party’s organizational network in the Colva Zilla Panchayat block.
After joining AAP, Anthony said he will take AAP’s work forward in the constituency.
