OLD GOA
The two AAP MLAs -- Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva -- visited the fast satyagraha at Old Goa, which entered 123rd day on Saturday, and promised to raise the issue in the Assembly.
Speaking to reporters, Benaulim MLA Venzy Viegas said he will ensure that Goa’s heritage is protected.
“Now that we are elected as MLAs, we are going to ensure that our heritage is protected. We will not keep quiet till the structure is demolished, and we will ensure that people’s voice is heard,” Viegas informed.
“Even if the government does not demolish the structure, this protest is going to continue, and we are going to fully support it,” he added.
“We had given the assurance before, and we are going to fulfil it. Also, we are going to see that such illegal structures do not come up in other heritage areas of Goa,” Viegas stated.
Velim MLA Cruz Silva said he extended support to the agitation since day-1 in whatever way possible.
“My intention was clear that this structure should be demolished. Now that I have got an opportunity as an MLA, I will take up the issue in the Assembly, and along with Viegas, we are going to see that the structure is demolished. We will always be there in support of the agitation,” Silva assured.
Save Old Goa Action Committee President Fatima Pereira, treasurer Hugo Gonsalves and other participants were present.
