The Aam Aadmi Party has offered to make available all provisions needed to prepare midday meals to 2,000 students from Khola, Agonda, Gaondongrim and Cotigao, who have been deprived of midday meals in Canacona taluka since a self-help group stopped supplies on October 1.
AAP Goa Vice-president Sandesh Telekar and AAP Youth Vice President Vaibhav Fal Dessai put forth the proposal during an interaction with the Canacona ADEI over the sudden halt in midday meals.
“The ADEI claims the Education Department and Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar have already been notified about the situation, but till now there has been no solution as no one is willing to accept the order to supply midday meals simply because it is not feasible at the present cost provided by the government,” said Telekar.
“We had given them an offer that AAP would provide all provisions needed to provide midday meals so that children won’t be kept hungry in schools. The ADEI told us to give in writing and we are submitting that as well. Let them give us a list of what is required and we will provide the same.”
