AAP raises hue, cry over bad NH66 in Pernem

PERNEM

Barely a day after roads were patched up along a dilapidated stretch of the NH66 at Malpem-Pernem, heavy rains washed away the patches and exposed the potholes once again, leading to angry reactions from local AAP leaders.

Local AAP leaders accused authorities of hastily and haphazardly filling up patches on Tuesday and threatened to protest if the highway was not properly repaired before Chaturthi.

Officials later visited the site and assured local party leaders Pundalik Dhargalkar and adv. Prasad Shahapurkar to resume the repair work in the second half of the day.

"Even national highways are in major need of repair work and, yet, their work is shoddy,” said Dhargalkar.

Shahapurkar criticised the government for failing to ensure basic facilities such as decent roads even during festivals.
