AAP sets eye on Velim ahead of 2022, unveils its party office in constituency

MARGAO

Ahead of the 2022 Assembly election, the Aam Aadmi Party has set its eye on Velim, where the party had put up an impressive performance in the 2017 Assembly election.

Amid a large number of party volunteers, AAP Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre opened the party office at Chinchinim village as the party projected AAP as an effective "alternative" to the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress in the coming polls.

Party Convenor, Velim constituency, Engr Cruz Silva, who had led the party campaign in the 2017 Assembly election and managed to poll 3000-odd votes, welcomed and introduced the party leaders including Mhambre, vice presidents -- Adv Pratima Coutinho and Adv Surel Tilve, Sandesh Telekar and Gerson Gomes.

Later speaking to the media, Engr Cruz said people of Velim are free to lodge their complaints and suggestion at the newly-opened office at Chinchinim, saying the party believes that, "The elected are the servants, people are the leaders”.

In his address, AAP convenor Rahul Mhambre gave a call to all the people to think that AAP is the only alternative for the government. Urging the people to rally behind AAP large numbers, he said AAP will soon come with a new announcement and guarantees regarding Youth and Women development.

Engr Cruz Silva told the gathering that the days of trusting previous MLAs is over as they have not done anything better for the constituency rather than personal development. He later observed a one minute silence to all the ex-AAP supporters who have lost their lives since the last assembly elections.

Speaking further, he appealed to the people to give one chance for AAP in the Velim constituency for the betterment of the welfare of the citizens and to promote all-round development of the constituency on the whole.

Gerson Gomes proposed the vote of thanks.
