In the run-up to the Zilla Panchayat elections, Velim, Benaulim and Colva have witnessed a people-first, service-based campaign model that stands out from every other political organisation in Goa.

Through one of the largest community health outreach initiatives in the State, AAP has conducted dozens of free health camps across villages, directly benefiting thousands of Goans.

The camps provided free doctor consultations, BP and sugar testing, diabetes screening, medicines, basic diagnostics and health guidance. The outreach covered villages including Fatrade, Varca, Zalor, Colva, Betalbatim, Velim and Assolna — taking healthcare directly to people’s homes.

AAP leaders pointed out that a single private clinic visit usually costs Rs 400–500 for consultation, Rs 500–1,000 for tests, and Rs 200–300 for medicines. “AAP’s free health camps save families an estimated Rs 3,000–4,000 every month. Many senior citizens and low-income households said this was the first time any political organisation provided real help instead of speeches”, they said.

AAP Benaulim MLA Capt Venzy Viegas said “Health is a right of every Goan, not a privilege. These health camps are not election optics — they are a continuation of our honest work for the community. The elected government never bothered to provide such basic healthcare services. People should not have to travel to Margao or GMC for basic tests. We are bringing healthcare closer to every home.”

AAP Velim MLA Engr Cruz Silva echoed similar sentiments. He said “AAP’s healthcare work has reached every village in Salcette. For many families, even simple check-ups are costly. The government in power has failed to ensure even basic health facilities, which is why people depend on us for help. Through these camps, we ensured no senior, no child and no working family was left behind. This is the politics of service AAP believes in.”

AAP Colva candidate,  Antonio Leao Fernandes said these health camps showed the true spirit of AAP — service before politics. “Many families told us these health camps were a blessing. I will continue this work across Colva and bring the Benaulim model of people-first development here.”

AAP sitting Benaulim candidate, Joseph Pimenta said “Every home we visited told us the same thing — healthcare is costly and difficult to access. Through these free camps, people saved thousands of rupees. Once elected, I will work to ensure we improve and increase such services in Benaulim.”

Assolna Sarpanch and AAP Velim candidate, Isaca Fernandes said “People of Velim appreciated that AAP brought medical help right to their doorstep. This is how politics should be — grounded in care and community. I will take this compassionate model forward and work hard for every family in Velim.”
