Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Delhi’s Kalkanji constituency and the party’s Goa in-charge Atishi on Saturday accused Bharatiya Janata Party’s Goa unit of giving a walkover to the Karnataka BJP government in the Mhadei water dispute thereby jeopardising the interests of Goans.
Atishi was in Goa this week to strengthen the party’s organisational structure. AAP Goa Convenor Elvis Gomes said that the newly-appointed state in-charge visited as many local units as she could and interacted with a whole range of local party volunteers so as to get a grasp of the realities and ground-level issues plaguing the state at present.
Speaking to the media, Atishi stated, “Despite there being a BJP government at the Centre and in Goa, the Mhadei water dispute ended with injustice to Goans. Why is the Goa BJP leadership not standing up for the cause of its people? The state government did not put up a strong case before the Supreme Court and as a result Goa will have to struggle for its limited sources of drinking water.”
The AAP Goa in-charge announced the launch of the party’s “Mission Nirmaan”, a three month-long organisation building exercise which is expected to be the foundation stone of its 2022 Goa Assembly elections campaign.
A 25-member committee headed by Valmiki Naik has been declared with the aim of rejuvenating the grassroots of the party which is still reeling from the massive defeat it suffered in the 2017 Assembly polls. The committee will schedule dialogues with its volunteers across 1640 booths as well as constituency level thinktanks upon conclusion of the ZP polls.
