Earlier, the side gate at the Agriculture Department’s property at Codar used to be wide open on Saturdays and Sundays, and picnickers had easy access to the Codar river.
On May 2, Sardesai took note of public concerns and safety and directed the Agriculture Director to restrain people from gaining access to government land to reach the picnic spot at Codar river.
Sardesai had sent a note to the Director of Agriculture stating that drowning incidents in the Codar river in Bethora-Nirankal could have been avoided if access to
the river through the Agriculture Department land was restricted.
