North Goa District Collector Nila Mohanan has instructed officials to take stringent action against those involved in late night musical parties causing hardship to students preparing for their SSC exams which begin from April 1.
She was addressing a meeting of the North Goa Sound Pollution Control Committee (NGSPCC) in the presence of North Goa Superintendent of Police Kartik Kashyap, DySP Mahesh Gaonkar, DySP Nelson Albuquerque and Deputy Collector Sabaji Shetye.
“There are complaints from parents that their children who are to appear for their SSC exams are facing problems and cannot study due to late-night parties. I have told my officers concerned to take action against these parties which are going on after 10.30 pm,” Mohanan said.
Members of NGSPCC told the collector that police have not taken cognizance of oral and written complaints, on grounds that the complainant must give evidence of these activities. Claiming that the police had not registered a single complaint against late night parties, some NGPCC members warned that if police continued to remain indifferent to their complaints, they would be forced to go to court.
DySP Mahesh Gaokar said people should be united in their fight against late night parties. He informed the collector that some people were involved in false complaints.
Mohanan then asked him to submit a copy of one complaint to her. She also informed that complaint could be made through SMS, email and WhatsApp.
