Act now or face unrest, Churchill tells govt Former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao demanding the immediate arrest of Gautam Khattar or face action.

MARGAO
Former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao has urged the government to act decisively against elements attempting to disrupt communal harmony in Goa, warning that inaction could provoke public unrest.

Addressing the media at his residence in Varca, in the presence of Valanka Alemao, former Benaulim sarpanch Remy Fernandes and others, Alemao strongly condemned the derogatory remarks made by Gautam Khattar against St Francis Xavier.

Calling on Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take swift action, Alemao said the government must “nip in the bud” any attempts to hurt the religious sentiments of Goans. He cautioned that the peaceful nature of Goa’s people should not be mistaken for weakness.

“I fail to understand where this individual has come from. If such elements are not dealt with firmly, people may be forced to take the law into their own hands,” he warned.

Alemao also questioned the silence of Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho during the event where the inflammatory speech was made.
