Social activist Shailendra Velingkar on Friday demanded a detailed probe into the genuineness of educational degrees and certificates of Urfan Mulla as well as the appointment of his kith and kin as teachers and staff in schools run by him.

He further demanded that the investigations into the educational institutions should be monitored by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who also holds the educational portfolio.

Addressing the media, Velingkar said though there’s been demands from certain quarters to institute an inquiry to ascertain the genuineness of Mulla’s educational degrees, questions are raised whether the government will accede to the demand in view of Mulla’s close proximity to BJP leaders.

“There have been various allegations made into the genuineness of the educational degrees and certificates of Urfan Mulla. Allegations have been made that educational rules were flouted by him. We want the truth to come out by investigating the allegations. Since Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is also the Education Minister, he should order a detailed probe to bring out the truth”, Velingkar demanded.

He added: “There are allegations that Mulla has opened a number of schools and have appointed his kith and kin as teachers and staff members. In the fitness, this allegation should be investigated since the schools are run on government grant”.
