With the newly-inaugurated Fatorda police station dilly dallying on the registration of a FIR against TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai even after the passage of 48 hours, social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues on Monday knocked the doors of the district police chief for action.
SP, South Arvind Gawas, told The Goan that the police would examine the petition made by Adv Aires. "The police would soon reply to Adv Aires on his complaint made to the Fatorda police station," SP Gawas said.
In his petition, Adv Aires stated that in a very glaring and shocking contravention of law and rank dereliction of duty, the Police Inspector of Fatorda Police Station had failed to register an FIR though 48 hours have now elapsed since the complaint was filed. "It was very obvious that the Fatorda Police Inspector was acting as a caged parrot, as Vijai Sardesai who besides being the local MLA is also Goa's Town & Country Planning Minister," he said, adding that the Fatorda Police Inspector should not shy away from registering the FIR just because Vijai Sardesai was instrumental in setting up the Fatorda Police Station and was also part of the inaugural function.
Adv Rodrigues has stated that on account of the failure of the Fatorda Police Inspector to act in accordance with law he was approaching the Superintendent of Police under Section 154(3) of Cr PC.
Seeking that the SP direct registration of the FIR and proceed to take action in accordance with law, Adv Rodrigues has stated that on failure to issue appropriate directions he would be constrained to approach the appropriate court for necessary reliefs to uphold the rule of law.
