Non-governmental organisation (NGO) Goencho Avaaz has demanded that the Governor immediately dismiss the ‘corrupt, paralytic, anti-people government’ and enable fresh elections for a new and dynamic administration.
In a press note released on Tuesday, the NGO said, “We are alarmed at the anarchy prevalent in our state. There is no functional Chief Minister. A “make hay while the sun shines” team of Ministers, a total breakdown of law and order and utter chaos in administration is what we are witnessing. Manohar Parrikar will go down in history as the man who clung to power despite serious illness, went across the globe for treatment at tax payers’ cost and lorded over a totally corrupt government that failed the people miserably.”
Said Capt Viriato Fernandes, co-convenor of Goencho Avaaz in the press note, “The PWD Minister, Sudin Dhavalikar admits that they cannot meet the CM and have to approach the IAS officers and OSDs. That signifies total breakdown in administration.”
“But the same Sudin by expressing his eagerness to become the CM, has openly revealed his greed for power,” he added.
While expressing appreciation for activist Rajan Ghate who is on an indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan, Panaji demanding that the CM hands over charge, Capt Fernandes said, “We are apprehensive that Ghate’s demand for replacement of CM may result in further horse-trading and deterioration in administration and law and order. But we do not support the demand for replacement of CM. The demand ought to have been addressed to the Governor, who is a silent spectator to this sordid affair.”
The group also expressed surprise over the statement of IT Minister Rohan Khaunte who just a fortnight back had released statements along with photographs praising the CM and the administration.
“Perhaps having learnt from the CM to take U-turns, he now acknowledges that administration has collapsed. Or it could mean that his pet project of an IT Park at Chimbel has not been signed by the “very active CM” as he had claimed a couple of weeks back,” the note further alleegd.
Stating that the helplessness of the government has been confessed by none other than the BJP president, Vinay Tendulkar who admits that bureaucrats don’t listen to Ministers, Goencho Avaaz said, “That reflects poorly on Tendulkar himself as well as his Party which is heading this so-called government.”
