MARGAO
As social activists brace up for a convention to chalk out an action plan to dislodge the BJP government in the State, political commentator Adv Radharao Gracias has issued a warning to the non-BJP political parties including the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party that the activists and the people will teach them a lesson if they do not consider and field candidates recommended by them.
The convention of social activists will take place on August 22 at Jardin hall behind Gomant Vidya Niketan hall, Margao on the Abade Faria road at 3 pm.
Addressing the media, Radharao said the purpose of the convention of the convention is to get all the social activists under a common platform since there is massive opposition to the BJP rule in Goa.
Reminding that the Congress won the South Goa Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 because of the support of the general public and the activists to support Captain Viriato Fernandes, Radharao said the MP choice was accepted by the people and the MP has lived up to the expectations of the people of South Goa.
He also demanded that the convention will demand that the political parties decide on the candidates six or three months before the election.
He added: “Against this backdrop, the convention will send a message to the political parties they should be taken into confidence before issuing the tickets. This is an initial meeting. We will meet more often and organise the activists in all the constituencies, take inputs and decide what is to be done”.
He said the activists will not allow the Congress and AAP to select candidates and push them in the electoral field. “We will have a role in the selection of candidates. We will decide on the candidates in all the 40 constituencies. If the parties do not accept our recommendations, we will field the candidate and teach the political parties a lesson”, Radharao warned.
