As the society braces up to commemorate its 32nd Foundation Day on January 1, Chairman Prakash Velip on Friday said the Society has set in motion the process to purchase land measuring 10,000 sq. mtr "Purshottam Sheti Farm", Shigao, Collem, Goa, for eco-tourism/business purposes.
He said the area will host four wooden cottages, three rooms, and a dormitory for around 30 people. Unveiling plans for other upcoming projects, Prakash said construction of a multi-grain godown has been planned at Paddi, Quepem. Construction of a warehouse/godown at Raia, Salcete, to the existing building, is in progress.
From a humble beginning 31 years ago, Prakash said the society is involved in 19 business activities, including the purchase and sale of agricultural goods, agro-machinery, plastic sales, the sale of organic and chemical fertilisers, ownership of a nursery of plants, the growing of organic cashew, and the Hand in Hand project. Besides, he said the society accepts deposits and lends loans for business activities.
“We have a clear vision to uplift the social and economic status of our members by producing more agri-goods in a better-mechanised way, to increase productivity, and develop saving habits among them. The stakeholders should get quality services through the spirit of cooperation,” he added.
