Adv Cleofato meets Rahul in Hubbali

City-based High Court lawyer, Adv Cleofato Coutinho, who  has emerged as strong contender for the South Goa Lok sabha ticket with  the reported backing of section of Congress MLAs belonging to the  Digambar Kamat camp, met Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Hubbali on  Saturday.  

When contacted, Adv Coutinho, however, said that his meeting with  Rahul Gandhi had nothing to do with politics, but was in connection  with the Dakshinayan Abhiyan’s meeting. “There was nothing political  about my meeting with Rahul Gandhi. I along with members of the  Dakshinayan Abhiyan had gone to Hubbali for a meeting of activists with  the Congress president. No politics concerning Goa was discussed with  Rahul Gandhi at Hubbali”, Adv Coutinho added.  

Sources in the know said that Adv Coutinho’s candidature has found  favour with the group of MLAs belonging to the Digambar Kamat camp.  And, with his name figuring in the list of candidates forwarded by the  South Goa district Congress panel to the Pradesh Election Committee,  Adv Coutinho has emerged as one of the contenders for the Congress  ticket.
