Advocates assn demands user-friendly registration at sub registrar’s office

MARGAO

The South Goa Advocates Association has demanded that the State government should make the registration process in the Sub Registrar office more user-friendly.

In a petition addressed to the State Registrar Cum Head of Notary Services, association president Adv Prasad Naik stated that the government needs to ensure a citizen-friendly registration process, which causes the least inconvenience.

He has insisted that once parties approach the Sub Registrar Office for registration of their deeds, they should not be sent back in case of minor errors in the uploading process, instead, the registration department should facilitate the correction of such errors and complete the registration of the document on the same day.

The South Goa Advocates Association has filed the petition after the State government issued the circular dated October 14, 2022, whereby editing of data in the office of the Sub Registrar at the time of final admission of documents has been stopped.

Adv Prasad Naik has made a representation to the registration department to modify the circular as the practice of completely stopping the editing of data at the stage of final admission was causing huge inconvenience to parties who are signatories to any of the deeds.

In his representation, Naik has pointed out that as a consequence of the said circular, the respective office of the sub-registrar is reverting the documents even in case of minor errors like no mention of the execution date of the document in the uploaded data, minor errors in mentioning some of the property details, spelling mistakes in the names of parties, change in witness, etc. In such circumstances, the parties have to return and the entire registration process needs to be re-scheduled. Naik has said that the rescheduling of the documents is causing great inconvenience to parties.
