OLD GOA
It took 40 years to get the ground level reservoirs (GLR) renovated at Pilar and Siridao.
On Monday, St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar inaugurated the Siridao reservoir which was renovated at a cost of Rs 27 lakh and the Pilar reservoir which has been renovated at a cost of Rs 12 lakh.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating both the reservoirs, MLA Borkar informed that since the past 40 years, both reservoirs were neglected which resulted in leakages in the GLRs.
“After getting elected, I immediately turned my attention to both the reservoirs as there is water shortage in my constituency and waste of water due to leakages was a cardinal sin,” Borkar stated.
“I along with my staff constantly followed up the issue with the PWD officials and today, our efforts have borne fruits and it will solve the water shortage issue to a great extent,” Borkar added.
Siridao Sarpanch Suvarna Cuncolienkar, Goa Velha Deputy Sarpanch Monica Miranda, Agassaim panchas Lakshadeep Gawas and Julius Almedia, PWD officials and others were present at both the functions.
