More than five years after it was constituted through a legislation, the three-member Goa Staff Selection Commission (GSSC) “ which deals with group C posts across all government departments “ on Friday issued the first advertisement for filling up 33 posts. The last date for applying for these vacancies is January 22, 2024.
The Commission will be conducting One Tier Computer Based Test (CBT) in case the numbers of candidates are less than 1200 and anything above that Two Tier CBT will be held. Clearing the Konkani language test has been made mandatory for deciding the merit list. The candidates, up to age of 45 years can apply for these posts.
According to the advertisement, the applications are invited for the posts of Network Engineer (3) in Transport department; Laboratory Technician (1) and Wireless Operator (1) in Police department; Technician (3) in Directorate of Higher Education (Govt colleges) and Librarian Grade I (8) and Grade II (8) in Directorate of Higher Education department; Drawing Teachers in Secondary School (7) Directorate of Education; Conservation Assistant (1) in Directorate of Museum and Light House Keeper (1) in Captain of Ports.
The Commission has informed that the minimum passing marks for CBT is 45 per cent for the non-reserved seats, 40 per cent for candidates from Other Backward Class and Persons with Disability and 35 per cent for Schedule Tribe and Scheduled Caste category.
“The Commission reserves the right to conduct a Two Tier CBT examination in case the number of candidates for any post exceeds 1200. In case of Single Tier CBT (where the candidates are less than 1200), the syllabus and scheme of examination will be as mentioned at CBT-I. In case Two Tier CBT is held (where the candidates are more than 1200), CBT-II exam shall be used for short listing/screening only. Thereafter, selection of candidates will be made on the basis of marks obtained in CBT III exam only,” the commission said.
The Goa Staff Selection Commission Act was notified in January 2019; however its rules came into force only in 2021. In a recent notification, the government had directed the Commission to complete the recruitment process of group C posts, advertised prior to 2022 election code of conduct, before January 31, 2024.
