In the light of the interim order by the High Court to keep the main gate of the Government Primary School at George Ward, Carmona to be kept open throughout for the benefit of the public, Colva Police have started patrolling rounds at the complex.

Former Carmona sarpanch Allwyn Jorge and petitioner in the High Court said the facility was locked for five months put by the Medical Officer of Chinchinim PHC citing damage to the premises.

He told the media that villagers have now thronged the place upon opening the gate, but found that the place had deteriorated in the past five months with weeds and sliminess due to moss formation.

Jorge said villagers were of the view that the court order is a big relief for them and will go a long way to protect the recreational facility from further deterioration. He opined that the panchayat has to oblige the High Court by providing water and light to the community toilets as per the order.
