They may be tuned in to classes online during the day, but a group of students from Baina-Vasco have also been busy offline in the evenings to create various Akash Kandeels.
Their efforts have not only earned them widespread appreciation in the locality, but it has also earned them pocket money as residents have been quick to purchase their Akash Kandeels for the forthcoming Diwali celebrations.
Speaking to reporters, Deepraj Chari said he and a group of students got together to make Akash Kandeels.
"We are usually busy during the day for online classes and after that, we get some time to make Akash Kandeels at home. In this way, we don't waste our time and we also get some income.”
“We have made a lot of Akash Kandeels and while we had plans to sell it in the market, we have customers coming home and it is important to display our inner talent and make the best use of it for a good cause," said Chari.
Another student, Kavita Kandolkar, said many festivals were not celebrated with enthusiasm this year on account of the Covid pandemic.
"We had a lot of spare time because of the lockdown and our family was also struggling for income during the lockdown. We then decided to support the family and use our talent to do something good.”
“We then formed a group and made a lot of Akash Kandeels and sold them. This showcased our talent, productive use of spare time and also generated some money," said Kandolkar.
