MARGAO
Feeling the heat of his constituents, Salcete lone Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues has said he would convey to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that the people are not convinced of the assurances made on the controversial projects after his return from the national capital.
Filipe Neri agreed that the ongoing agitation is only increasing by the day going by the mood and anger of the people and that the youth are spearheading the movement against the controversial projects.
He said the Chief Minister will be briefed of the ground reality that people are not convinced of his assurances and that they will continue the agitation till such time the government comes out with a clear policy on these projects.
He told the media after a group of villagers of Sarzora and neighbouring Chinchinim villages called on him at his residence that he will request the Chief Minister to see how best he can handle the issue as the people seemed not convinced of his assurances.
“The people questioned me why I have not been publicly making statement on the controversial projects, but I told them that I have been silently working in that direction by conveying to the Chief Minister time to time on the ongoing agitation,” he said.
Filipe added: “They demanded to know my stand. It’s easy to say I am with the people, but we have to stop the project. I have been working silently and will again brief the Chief Minister on the mood of the people and their demand for a notification to scrap the projects.”
