People at the house to pay their last respects to late Sonia Monterio e Pereira at Agonda.

It was an emotional farewell on Tuesday evening as people gathered to pay their last respects to late Sonia Monterio e Pereira (33), who was allegedly murdered by her husband Alfred Pereira (43) at the gate of their house at Agonda on Saturday night.
A number of people lined up outside the house as the body was brought late afternoon. The funeral cortege was later taken to the Agonda Church, where the final rites were conducted.
Delivering his homily at the funeral mass, Agonda Parish priest Fr Patrick Luis regretted none in the society could do anything to prevent the unfortunate shooting of Sonia.
“We all have failed to understand the gravity of the turmoil within the family of late Sonia,” said Fr Luis.
