In a change of guard at the Goa State Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (Western Region), Anirudh Agrawal, a gen-X scion of the South Goa-based Agrawal group, has picked up the baton from Swathi Salgaocar.
Agrawal, who forayed into the renewable energy space, started a new venture Agrawal Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd, and became the first manufacturer of solar power panels in Goa.
Goa Shipyard Limited's CMD Brajesh Kumar Upadhya will be his deputy as Vice Chairman of the CII Goa State Council 2023-24.
Agrawal is a mechanical engineer and alumnus of the Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi. He then went on to earn an MBA in the US and on his return, joined his family business house to launch his own new venture -- Agrawal Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd -- of which he is the managing director.
Besides solar panels, his company also diversified into making EVA sheets with one of India's most robotic manufacturing units and also owns and operates solar and wind power projects across India. The Agrawal group's other businesses are in the mining, real estate, pharmaceuticals and hospitality sectors.
